“There is an incredible up swell of leadership and consciousness emerging around the world. Let’s keep adding our energy to those women who wake up every day and figure out not just how they are going to feed their families, but how they will transform the system.”
“There is no bigger heart than the heart of the mother.”
The first quote is from an article written by Cathy Burke, my friend and CEO of the Hunger Project Australia, for International Women’s Day via Business Chicks. The second is a direct quote from the Ambassador Hamid Al Bayati which I wrote down on the back of a napkin during a luncheon at the United Nations in New York City on Monday March 5th.
The Ambassador Hamid Al Bayati, Permanent Representative of Iraq to the United Nations, joined Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon at the UN on Monday morning, where my friend and the “best being” from our wedding last January, the inimitable Joseph Peter presented two artworks from his Happiness Project to each of them, as well as Michelle Bachelet, the head of UN Women, and the first female president of Chile from 2006 until 2010.
On top of these two major landmarks of this week, I am blown open by the Invisible Children movement, which is storming the globe with positive energy and action. Also at the UN on Monday was our friend Simon Isaacs, friend of Jason Russel who is the founder of this sensational movement to stop Joseph Kony from a host of crimes, including abducting children for his child army of 30,000. Simon mentioned today that Jason’s campaign is “one of the most impressive demonstrations of the power of young people to change things.”
I share all of this with you to continue the catalyzation of positive energy and action spreading throughout the world. We are connected so closely via these screens, this incredible free web of transference. What I love is that given a voice and given choice, humanity wants to SUPPORT ITSELF; it wants to THRIVE; it wants to love; it wants to heal its wounding. This is the base function of life intelligence itself. Let it happen and take conscious action in every moment. Awareness is the key to all transformation.
A question to ponder for a moment or three: What kind of a world do you want your children, the children of your community, and the unstoppable generations of human beings coming into this earth to inherit? They are coming whether you decide to give birth or not. And the majority of them are coming from Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. It is up to us to make the minute shifts and the key alterations so that the planet we live on may thrive, may be healthy and happy – so that all beings are free and have access to what you have, what we have, what a brighter future suggests. Education, sanitation, nutrition, empowerment, love, happiness, peace of mind. A world free of anxiety.
Another question to ask yourself every day: What kind of a person are you being in regards to shifting the way we have been operating our world? Have you been unaware, dismissive, fearful, jaded, cynical, lost? What kind of a future (present!) would you like to live within and through? I am a stand for elegant simplicity – that we may enjoy the simple pleasures in life, which include supporting and loving one another, feeling safe and treasured, feeling energized, being free from harm and illness, being free to enjoy the sun on your face or the wind in your hair as you walk through an abundant, fertile, majestic earth. That we may be safe to dance in the rain, marry who we choose, love what we love, and explore the realms of our innate curiosity and imagination.
I am creating a world where children grow up believing that life is inherently good, that the Earth is safe, that it is a pleasure to be alive. Since I know the magic of this sensation and have had the privilege to experience the beauty of being here, I do not want any more children to grow into their lives believing otherwise. Dear children of the future, you have my sincere voice and my love with you. I pray for our collective vision and tenacity to reach far and wide. May you be safe, may you be loved, may you be free, and may you live long into a happy future.
